Prostate volume (ellipsoid)
Estimates prostate volume from the three diameters measured by ultrasound or MRI. Optionally, it also calculates PSA density.

Ellipsoid π/6×3 diameters/Terris–Stamey 1991; PSA density=PSA/volume
The ellipsoid formula is a geometric approximation. The cited study compared transrectal ultrasound estimates with the weight of surgical specimens and found different performance across methods and sizes. It does not automatically confirm equivalence between MRI and ultrasound or diagnosis through PSA density.
Conditions of use
Check the population, units, inclusion and exclusion criteria, and version in the original source. A result alone does not establish a diagnosis, discharge decision or prescription.

A resource for general clinical contexts. This edition does not assign a specific oncological relationship; selecting it for a study requires a justified question, population and purpose.
