sPESI (simplified PESI)
Estimates 30-day mortality in patients with confirmed acute pulmonary embolism without hemodynamic instability, identifying those at low risk.

sPESI/Jiménez 2010: 6 binary variables, 0 low risk, others high; not original 11-variable PESI
sPESI estimates prognosis in acute pulmonary embolism; it neither confirms nor excludes it. The study’s low-risk group still had deaths and does not independently authorize outpatient treatment. Instability, comorbidities, clinical factors and logistical conditions must be assessed within the corresponding protocol.
Conditions of use
Check the population, units, inclusion and exclusion criteria, and version in the original source. A result alone does not establish a diagnosis, discharge decision or prescription.
Documented parameters
- Age > 80 years
- Cancer (active or treated in the last year)
- Chronic cardiopulmonary disease (heart failure or chronic lung disease)
- Heart rate ≥ 110 bpm
- Systolic blood pressure < 100 mmHg
- O₂ saturation < 90%
3/3 reference cases checked. Numerical tests are not clinical validation.
Relationship with cancer research
General context — relationship to be defined
A resource for general clinical contexts. This edition does not assign a specific oncological relationship; selecting it for a study requires a justified question, population and purpose.
