Calculates LDL-C using Friedewald and Sampson (NIH) and non-HDL cholesterol from the lipid profile.

Friedewald 1972 TG<400 and Sampson NIH 2020 TG≤800; coefficients 0.948/0.971/8.56/2140/16100/9.44
Sampson 2020 assessed LDL-cholesterol estimation up to triglycerides of 800 mg/dL; people with type III hyperlipidemia were excluded. The development sample had a high frequency of hypertriglyceridemia, with external validation in other populations. The formula estimates, rather than directly measures, LDL cholesterol. Its limits must not be transferred to the Friedewald formula; preserve the selected variant, unit and triglyceride domain stated for each method.
Conditions of use
Check the population, units, inclusion and exclusion criteria, and version in the original source. A result alone does not establish a diagnosis, discharge decision or prescription.
