Charlson Comorbidity Index

Quantifies comorbidity burden and long-term prognosis, used for study risk adjustment and decisions about screening and aggressive treatment.

Arithmetic checks are available. Independent clinical review is pending. Inclusion in the catalogue does not constitute clinical validation.

Calculate with transparency

Check the population, units and version. The result shows the formula or classification; it does not make an automatic treatment decision.

Method · Limits of application

CCI/Charlson 1987; age-adjusted Charlson 1994; age points 50–59/60–69/70–79/≥80; local survival estimate

Identify whether the index includes age adjustment. It is a prognostic comorbidity measure studied in defined cohorts and time horizons, not a universal prediction. The local survival equation requires its own checking and calibration; a bibliographic reference does not establish its individual performance.
