Historical maintenance estimate, without fluid composition or prescription. In this edition: ages 28 days to 18 years and confirmed AAP 2018 exclusions. Does not estimate deficit, losses or individual needs in cancer.

Formula and criteria

Daily: 100 mL/kg for the first 10 kg; 50 for the next 10; 20 per additional kg. The approximate hourly 4–2–1 is calculated separately; daily total/24 is not identical to the approximation.
