Method · Limits of application
Teichholz 1976: 7 D³/(2.4+D); EF and linear volumes; ASE/EACVI 2015 context and geometric limitations
The Teichholz estimate depends on the geometric relationship between ventricular diameter and volume. In the original study, agreement was good without asynergy and poor when asynergy was present. Coronary disease with possible regional abnormalities requires caution; the fraction calculated from one diameter does not replace methods suited to ventricular geometry.
Conditions of use
Check the population, units, inclusion and exclusion criteria, and version in the original source. A result alone does not establish a diagnosis, discharge decision or prescription.
